Computer Society of India (CSI) is the first and largest body of computer professionals in India. It was started on 6 March 1965 by a few computer professionals and has now grown to be the national body representing computer professionals
CSI is a non-profit professional body to exchange views, information and share ideas. Society also encourages and assists professionals to maintain integrity and competence of the profession and fosters a sense of partnership amongst members.

The inaugural function of CSI Student Branch in Jeppiaar Institute of Technology was held on 23rd January 2013. The Chief Guest Mr. Rajan T Joseph, Director (Education), Computer Society of India, Chennai inaugurated the CSI Student Branch and enlightened the students about open source, technical skills and managerial skills. Dr.N.Marie Wilson, Managing Director, Jeppiaar Institute of Technology graced the occasion. The initial intake of CSI-Student Branch is 82 Students.
